How Computers Work

阅读更多

Yes, im at last reading this fantastic book. it's a great book definitely.

from the past, i've been long for knowing about the principle of the computers, how do they work?

where the computing ability does it come from? is it by some transistor and their logical composition?

now, from the beginning of the book, i began to know that there's the simple circuit, relay and electromagnet.

electromagnet : it's a coil with plastic overcoated

relay : it has a electromagnet controlling a key

by the way, the pictures illustrated in it are just amazing.

here's the picture about the relay.

Just as a normal loop is the basis of a computer memory, this feedback circuit is a key
part of a computer’s clock. A computer’s clock is a circuit that repeatedly generates
signals (1 and 0 values).

and about how does it implement the logical and? just through the And Gate Circuit .

first please allow me to describe it a bit. If there're two switches which cooperates to make a bulb glow.Only and only if both the two switches closes, could the bulb be turned on. here's the diagram:

The following table also shows that ‘output wire C’ has value 1 only when both ‘input
wire A’ has value 1 AND ‘input wire B’ has value 1.
